Toyota GR GT Intro:
Toyota and Toyota Gazoo Racing now unveiled their new the GR GT and GR GT3 flagship models. They have set the internet on fire. Looks like something out of the concept garage from a movie set.
They are not a concept car. Yes the GR GT is a full production vehicle, built and test by Toyota’s Gazoo Racing for the next generation super cars and racing projects. GR GT is a road-legal sports car developed with the GR GT3 race car. Lexus LFA Electric shows “driver-first” philosophy of Toyota and TGR’s experience of building ever-better race bred cars showcases.
Toyota’s new, hybrid and EV powertrain technology and brand vision of the future of sports cars. The GR GT is now company’s flagship, road-legal car, and a demonstration of race-bred vehicle development techniques. Defined by a driver-first approach to listen, understand and fulfilling the needs of who drives the car. Like the Toyota 2000GT of the 1960s and the Lexus LFA early 2000s. They also preserve and pass on the secret sauce of making some cool cars again.
It’s quite big, low and wide car 4,820mm long and 1,195mm on side and have both looks and presence, in terms of build.
It’s used an aluminium structure with lots of carbon fibre reinforced for the first for the company, all the bonnet, roof, door and boot are very light. The main components are cost-effective alloy. Although it is an all-new but rather traditional one. The V-8 at the front driving the rear wheels with hybrid assistance.
Exterior styling and aerodynamic: Toyota GR GT
The styling of Toyota GR GT was developed with aerodynamics first approach whereas the conventional process of engineering the vehicle first, where aerodynamics engineers along with designers worked together and discussed about aerodynamic and cooling performance requirements before any sketches. With a top speed in excess of 199mph (320km/h), the aerodynamics became one of the most important part.
Aerodynamics engineers experienced joined with the GR GT development team and engaged in vehicle design. This led to the overall vehicle being based on an aerodynamic car.
After that the exterior designers prepared design with production in mind, and finalisation of vehicle styling this is reverse of the normal approach of making sports car.
The front profile with a big cooling grilles up front. Massive inlets vented on the bonnet with triangular ducting towards the windscreen for max air flow and cooling and some downforce.
The big outlets on the arch of the front wheels for brake cooling and resist the air turbulence at front. A short rear overhang with double-acting ducktail spoiler and quad exhaust tips give some LFA feel. When function design form aerodynamically, the result is a sleek, aggressive and wind-cheating design, without excess body lines.

Toyota GR GT – Interior :
The GR’s interior is un-radical but in a good way, looking calm and simple not tech heavy like modern day cars, with a comfortable pair of Recaro bucket seats and a clear view over the long bonnet.
The styling is based on the driving position and visibility above all so it suitable for both professional and normal drivers. There’s a digital dashboard and a central touchscreen with shift lights and gear position indicators, and for ease of visual recognition special attention was paid to the gauges width and height.
Physical buttons also including cabin temperature, audio controls are given on the steering wheel with two dials for drive mode and the stability control. The center console features a toggle-type shifter and topped by a relatively modest touchscreen.

Performance of Toyota GR GT :
Under the long hood, the GR GT has its engine mounted entirely behind the front axle’s centreline.
A new all-alloy 4.0-liter V-8 with a short stroke of 83.1-mm with twin-turbos set on the top between its cylinder heads.
It gets a dry sump lubrication system, which helps with equal lubricant flow during high turns, incorporating an electric motor that provides mild hybrid assistance and is integrated into the front bolted transaxle.
System’s peak power is 641 hp with 627 lb-ft of torque and a top speed of 199 mph. While Toyota not share details of the GT’s electrical system, but it will be a 48-volt system, and primary task is to improve drivability not add performance.
The engine was design on a compact and light design concept to achieve. The transmission is complex design. The rear transaxle connected to the engine through a carbon fibre torque tube with an eight-speed automatic, but with a wet clutch rather than a torque converter. The new transaxle integrates a new eight-speed automatic transmission and sits behind the rear axle to help minimize the wheelbase with a mechanical limited-slip differential.
The motor at the front of the transmission, is used to recover the lag in torque during acceleration and gear changes. The eight-speed automatic transmission is designed for superfast shift speed, and shift control. The rear transaxle, get power from the engine through the electric motor and automatic transmission uses a conical gear to reverse the direction of that power.
This structure is complex, expensive for a front-engine. Rear wheel-drive car but this design facilitates a 45:55 front-to-rear weight distribution, a light all-wheel-drive setup and superior vehicle handling. This car not only delivers high-level of performance but also racing sound of a V8 twin-turbo. And they are known for it like LFA one of the best sounding cars of time.
The vehicle’s sound development prioritized a dynamic engine note that evolves alongside thermal energy so structure of the exhaust pipe has been crafted to make sound that synchronises with the state of the vehicle and engine.

Chassis :
All-aluminum body is used for the new Toyota GR GT for a low mass with high body rigidity frame. Aluminum castings for the main structure, with more aluminum extrusions are used by advanced joining methods, and carbon fibre reinforced plastic panels are used for the hood, roof and rear hatch frame. Further reduce more weight to achieve target curb weight of 3,858 pounds or lower.
Engineers lowered the overall vehicle height for a low center of gravity, the seating position, and the mounting points of major components, including the engine. Toyota focused on concentrating mass between the wheels and placed engine behind the midline of the front wheels this makes the GR GT a front-midship car and helps in weight distribution.
The suspension has unequal-length arms made of forged aluminium uses twin wishbones at each corner, supplemented by low-mounted rear lateral support links to manage heavy cornering loads.
Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires were designed for the GR GT, and Brembo carbon-ceramic discs are used for breaking. Vehicle Stability Control system with multi-stage adjustment and driving force and breaking control, optimize for vehicle control difficulty level based on driving conditions, for fun and secure driving experience.
This setup is also used in Toyota race vehicles and is an example of technology motorsports.

Verdict:
After the Lexus closed its production of LFA something missing from Japanese supercar and now we finally get back something by Toyota a Japanese supercar after very long time.
It’s a fast, daily-usable sports car that can slay the track, rather than overpowered smartphone, where other brands have given up on V8s for smaller engines, and Toyota make something different a V8 petrol sportscar a brand known for their hybrid cars now. This car looks like a monster a track weapon, with a wing like front splitter, aggressive inlets and vents, and a long low profile.
